Note: For sustainability reasons, the desktop version does not come with a USB power supply, just a USB-A to USB-C cable. You will need a 5V supply, such as a phone charger, power bank or laptop. The desktop version has a Eurorack power header and can be placed into a Eurorack. The desktop case however has 5V USB power and no Eurorack rails, you cannot use it as a 42 HP rack without modifications.

]]>Even the simplest melody can be brought to life with seemingly endless options to create variations or real-time manipulations. In the studio or in a live performance, the Metropolix is sure to become a staple source of fresh ideas and killer riffs in your creative process.
CV and MIDI Sequencing on your desktop
We’ve set Metropolix free from the rack, in a small desktop case, allowing you to interface with your DAW or other hardware music machines without needing a full eurorack system.
Going Solo, but not alone
The Metropolix Solo Kit is available for current eurorack Metropolix owners that want to set Metropolix free to sit next to their modular systems.
Connections
Metropolix Solo has all the connections you need for USB MIDI, Serial MIDI (TRS or DIN with Adaptors) and CV/GATE for modular systems. Use CV/Gate, TRS and USB MIDI all at the same time.
Top Panel (CV/Gate)
Rear Panel (MIDI/Power)
Let’s talk about Metropolix
Performance Controls
Metropolix is an interactive sequencer optimized for live performance, jamming, and improvisation — with configurable, hands-on control of all the most essential performance parameters. Sequences transform and mutate with just the twist of a knob; a flick of a switch; a nudge of a slider; or an injection of CV. With Metropolix, your music is as dynamic and evolving as your imagination.
Two Tracks, Interconnected
Two tracks (TRK 1 and TRK 2) are variants of a main pitch/gate sequencer, which is programmed via the PITCH sliders, PULSE COUNT and GATE TYPE switches. Each track interprets the main sequence in a variety of ways — creating complementary variations that enable you to generate counterpoint, polyrhythms, and all manner of sonic movement (both subtle and extreme).
Each of these tracks has its own playback ORDER, sequence LENgth, clock DIVision, SWING amount, SLIDE time, and track GATE lengths. Other track-based sequence variables are accessible from the TRACK MENU, and include Pitch Slider inversion; sequence note range; track transposition; and more. In addition, both tracks have multiple lanes of per-stage playback parameters, including: GATE override; PITCH override; RATCHet count; PROBability of playback; ACCUMulating transposition, and a dedicated CV/CC lane. Each stage also has a SKIP feature, and a pitch SLIDE option.
The Accumulator
Automate pitch movements on a per-track or per-stage basis. Use various trigger types and increments to control variation on your tracks.
Eight Modulation Lanes
Eight Separate modulation lanes are accessed via the MOD button. Each MOD lane has 8-stages of modulation values and its own playback ORDER, LENgth, and clock DIVision; and each lane is routable to one of Metropolix’ two assignable outputs, MIDI CC, and dozens of internal destinations, allowing for sophisticated and powerful self-modulation.
Three AUX Inputs and Two CTRL Knobs
A trio of AUX inputs allows for external modulation of user-assignable sequencer parameters for even greater variation, while two assignable CTRL knobs give you direct access to the parameters you want to adjust most frequently during a performance. With dedicated Pitch/Gate outputs for both Track 1 and Track 2; two totally user-assignable outputs (A and B); and internal MOD routing, Metropolix features a wealth of patching opportunities.
100 User Defined Scales
Design and modulate between your own custom scales and root note.
Modulate BPM
Use the CTRL Knobs, AUX Inputs, or Mod Lanes to modulate the BPM of your track and the clock outputs of the Metropolix.
Loopy — Performance Looping
Metropolix also features a Loopy mode, allowing you to instantly play back short sub-sequences, or even “play” the stage buttons directly (like a ‘keyboard’).
64 Total Recall Presets & Preset Chaining
Metropolix stores up to 64 preset configurations (in 8 banks of 8 presets), and all live settings are stored on the module, ensuring that your Metropolix will always power up exactly as you left it — even if you haven’t saved them to a preset. By default presets can change all the structural (menu-based) elements of your sequencer without overwriting the front panel controls, but full recall is also available.
Chain Presets to go hands free while you twiddle other knobs on your synth.

]]>The post Play All Day PlayFader 2-Channel CV & MIDI Portable Sequencer (Black) appeared first on Elevator Sound.
]]>Each channel features CV and Gate outputs that are controlled by its Fader and Play button. Move the Fader to change the CV level, press the Play button to output a variable-width gate or trigger.
PlayFader also outputs two channels of MIDI – select from notes, chords, CCs and many more output options. MIDI mirrors the analogue outputs so you can control anything with a MIDI input while also controlling your analogue CV synths, pedals etc. This gives you control of four voices! Or more, depending on your patching imagination.
PlayFader runs either to its own internal clock with full transport controls and tap tempo, or loves making friends with external clocks. Sync can be by CV or MIDI, in or out.
The LOOP button allows you to capture your playing in a buffer that repeats after any number of steps from 1 to 64. You can even set your own User Loop Length live. Each channel has two recording buffers (Loop A and B) which you can jump, swap and copy between. Although the Loop buffer is always synced to the clock, you can record un-quantised gates, or you can switch on synced ratchets with the TIME button. Now your gates/notes repeat at the division rate you set for as long as you hold a PLAY button down. Very groovy. You can change ratchet divisions on the fly via the Faders while holding that PLAY button down and record the results into the Loop buffer. You can also punch-in recording or clear, change loop lengths and reset the buffers independently per channel to keep playing endlessly with your loops.
Select from your own fully customisable user scales or smooth voltage ranges of 2, 3, 5 & 8v in addition to live transposition.
You can use LATCH to override the CV you recorded into the buffer and output a CV value based on the current live Fader position, all while the recorded gate pattern keeps going. You can play with the Fader CV Latched on, sending out whatever note/value you want from the Fader and then simply drop back into your previously recorded pattern by switching LATCH off. A quick double-tap of LATCH will unlatch both channels at the same time for some seriously fun drops. This is even more creative when you combine it with the dual Loop buffers in each channel.
FUN FX modes
PlayFader has a protective lid – or PlayCase – that doubles as a stand and feels great in your hand if you want to hold it and play. When you’re travelling, all the controls are safely protected by the lid, held in place with a handy official Stonewall Merchandise wristband which supports LGBTQ+ equality around the world. The lid can then be flipped onto the back of the PlayFader when you’re ready, giving you some grip and a bit more height, making it perfect to play all day!
