Arturia’s BeatStep Pro is a hardware sequencer that also provides a huge set of hands-on controls. When you look to the rear of the unit you get an idea of the comprehensive set of connections that bring both analog and digital computer based set-ups together. A single MIDI in/out port allows for the connection of external MIDI capable units and clock sync provides a solid timing platform. To take care of external drum modules there are eight drum gates, for all your hits to be triggered from the on-board sequencer. A further two CV outputs with pitch, velocity and gate allow for maximum control for external analog synths.

The Arturia BeatStep Pro comes with three modes of operation, firstly there is the melodic sequencing mode, and a pair of sequencers offers 64 steps of sequencing each with a huge 32 sequences available per project and a maximum of 16 projects possible. A separate 16-track drum sequencer with two recording modes, either a live performance finger drumming style, or a more traditional step-sequencing workflow is available. Finally there is the MIDI controller mode, which provides tactile control of parameters of your favourite VST instruments, turning them into hardware like synths.

The controls available on the Arturia BeatStep Pro offer both tactile and extensive control over a large number of parameters and connected gear.
