Reimagining a Reimagined Classic

The Atlantix is the highly-anticipated successor to the Intellijel Atlantis which was originally inspired by the classic Roland SH-101—one of our all-time favorite synthesizers. Despite the SH-101’s seemingly limited architecture, it produces various creative and musically useful sounds that have inspired generations of artists and countless hits. The Atlantix is just as immediate for dialing in beautifully rich bass and lead sounds but a thoughtful design, numerous additional features, and flexible patching options open up a massive amount of new sonic territory to explore.

The Atlantix is an analog, complete subtractive synthesizer voice condensed into a single 42HP module. Its carefully conceived architecture and layout facilitate a lot of flexibility and hands-on control. It gives you all the building blocks needed to start making sounds in Eurorack: VCOs, VCF, VCA, S&H, Noise, and an Envelope but in a way that allows plenty of experimentation.

Features

Oscillators — Advanced TZFM and Flexible Mixer
The Atlantix uses two triangle core voltage controlled oscillators (VCO) which respond in a musically pleasing way to frequency modulation. The Atlantix primary VCO (VCO A) is capable of thru-zero frequency modulation and has a dedicated amplifier for controlling FM depth (FM INDEX). The modulation oscillator (VCO B) can be used as either an LFO or VCO. The highly flexible architecture allows you to route VCO B as a modulation source or stack it as a secondary VCO all by the flick of a switch or slider. VCO B also has a bonus “spike” waveform output which is a square wave with fixed HPF, similar to the Buchla Easel. Both oscillators track very precisely over eight or more octaves.

In the mixer section, you can adjust the balance of the primary oscillator’s waveforms, sub-oscillator noise, and two auxiliary inputs that are normalled to additional VCO A waveforms or VCO B waveforms. The auxiliary inputs also allow you to patch other external signals into the mix.

The second Auxiliary input has a switch that allows you to route the source between the mixer sum or directly into the VCA (post-VCF). The latter is a way to pass an unfiltered fundamental signal to the final VCA stage and then blend it with filtered audio from the VCF. This draws inspiration from the architecture of the CS-80 where a sine wave is mixed with the filtered audio to make glassy tones with some added harmonics.

Multimode Filter — From drips to growls
The filter section (VCF) is a discrete cascaded 4-pole multimode filter with lowpass, bandpass, highpass, and phaser (multi-notch) modes. The filter can self-oscillate which produces a very clean sine wave that also tracks 1V/Oct. The VCF has three frequency modulation sources, two of which are normalled to the external pitch and envelope and have switches for polarity.

Add Atlx for dedicated outputs from each mode.

Envelope — A classic ADSR
The envelope section is an analog ADSR with three timing ranges: slow, medium, and fast. It can be gated externally or via a manual gate button located in the center of the panel. The ADSR is routed through a VCA which can be used for level or velocity control.

Modulation — Random, Feedback, and built-in routing
Two eight-position rotary switches allow you to select from eight different modulation sources and route them to outputs MOD X and MOD Y. Each switch also has a polarity control and an option to level shift between unipolar and bipolar operation. MOD X is normalled to VCO A frequency modulation and MOD Y is normalled to VCF frequency modulation. The dedicated outputs allow for further creative modulation patching.

Four of the Input jacks have normal switches to change your patch without the need for cables.

The analog Sample and Hold (S&H) circuit is normalled to the white noise source and can be clocked by VCO B, an external clock source, or via the gate input for per-note synced randomization.

Drive and Distortion
The output VCA can be routed into two different distortion circuits which allow for harmonically richer and more aggressive tones while also boosting signal levels.

Atlx — Optional Expander w/ Ring Mod
The Atlx expander provides 16 additional jacks to the Atlantix, including dedicated waveform outputs for A and B oscillators, filter outputs, and a ring modulator. Atlx adds many new possibilities for self-patching, advanced routing, and connections to other modules.

Specifications

  • Width: 42hp
  • Depth: 25mm

The Metropolix Solo is a unique and powerful desktop multitrack MIDI and CV musical sequencer. With an abundance of hands-on, tactile controls and a wealth of internal and external modulation possibilities, you can quickly and easily create infectious sequences.

Even the simplest melody can be brought to life with seemingly endless options to create variations or real-time manipulations. In the studio or in a live performance, the Metropolix is sure to become a staple source of fresh ideas and killer riffs in your creative process.

CV and MIDI Sequencing on your desktop
We’ve set Metropolix free from the rack, in a small desktop case, allowing you to interface with your DAW or other hardware music machines without needing a full eurorack system.

Going Solo, but not alone
The Metropolix Solo Kit is available for current eurorack Metropolix owners that want to set Metropolix free to sit next to their modular systems.

Connections
Metropolix Solo has all the connections you need for USB MIDI, Serial MIDI (TRS or DIN with Adaptors) and CV/GATE for modular systems. Use CV/Gate, TRS and USB MIDI all at the same time.

Top Panel (CV/Gate)

  • A/B Assignable CV Outputs

  • 2.1mm DC for Power Supply

Let’s talk about Metropolix

Performance Controls
Metropolix is an interactive sequencer optimized for live performance, jamming, and improvisation — with configurable, hands-on control of all the most essential performance parameters. Sequences transform and mutate with just the twist of a knob; a flick of a switch; a nudge of a slider; or an injection of CV. With Metropolix, your music is as dynamic and evolving as your imagination.

Two Tracks, Interconnected
Two tracks (TRK 1 and TRK 2) are variants of a main pitch/gate sequencer, which is programmed via the PITCH sliders, PULSE COUNT and GATE TYPE switches. Each track interprets the main sequence in a variety of ways — creating complementary variations that enable you to generate counterpoint, polyrhythms, and all manner of sonic movement (both subtle and extreme).

Each of these tracks has its own playback ORDER, sequence LENgth, clock DIVision, SWING amount, SLIDE time, and track GATE lengths. Other track-based sequence variables are accessible from the TRACK MENU, and include Pitch Slider inversion; sequence note range; track transposition; and more. In addition, both tracks have multiple lanes of per-stage playback parameters, including: GATE override; PITCH override; RATCHet count; PROBability of playback; ACCUMulating transposition, and a dedicated CV/CC lane. Each stage also has a SKIP feature, and a pitch SLIDE option.

The Accumulator
Automate pitch movements on a per-track or per-stage basis. Use various trigger types and increments to control variation on your tracks.

Eight Modulation Lanes
Eight Separate modulation lanes are accessed via the MOD button. Each MOD lane has 8-stages of modulation values and its own playback ORDER, LENgth, and clock DIVision; and each lane is routable to one of Metropolix’ two assignable outputs, MIDI CC, and dozens of internal destinations, allowing for sophisticated and powerful self-modulation.

Three AUX Inputs and Two CTRL Knobs
A trio of AUX inputs allows for external modulation of user-assignable sequencer parameters for even greater variation, while two assignable CTRL knobs give you direct access to the parameters you want to adjust most frequently during a performance. With dedicated Pitch/Gate outputs for both Track 1 and Track 2; two totally user-assignable outputs (A and B); and internal MOD routing, Metropolix features a wealth of patching opportunities.

100 User Defined Scales
Design and modulate between your own custom scales and root note.

Modulate BPM
Use the CTRL Knobs, AUX Inputs, or Mod Lanes to modulate the BPM of your track and the clock outputs of the Metropolix.

Loopy — Performance Looping
Metropolix also features a Loopy mode, allowing you to instantly play back short sub-sequences, or even “play” the stage buttons directly (like a ‘keyboard’).

64 Total Recall Presets & Preset Chaining
Metropolix stores up to 64 preset configurations (in 8 banks of 8 presets), and all live settings are stored on the module, ensuring that your Metropolix will always power up exactly as you left it — even if you haven’t saved them to a preset. By default presets can change all the structural (menu-based) elements of your sequencer without overwriting the front panel controls, but full recall is also available.

Chain Presets to go hands free while you twiddle other knobs on your synth.

Eurorack is a synthesist’s toy chest. Stompboxes are a guitarist’s toy chest. Each industry offers a seemingly infinite variety of products that enable musicians to build systems unique to their needs and to create a signature sound. Each is also somewhat addictive. Rare is the musician who doesn’t eventually need a larger toy chest to house the accumulated toys.

Fortunately for the budget-conscious musician, Eurorack modules and stompboxes have always existed in separate worlds — someone whose Eurorack system consumes an entire wall in their home is usually not the same person whose pedalboard now requires a dedicated roadie just to transport it to the gig.

Intellijel’s Stomp removes the barrier between Eurorack and stompbox. It provides the modular synthesist with a portal to stompbox nirvana, and the guitarist with a wormhole to the sonic manipulations of Eurorack modules.

Stomp enables the modular synthesist to interact with the impressive assortment of delays, choruses, flangers, phasers, fuzz boxes, tremolos, wah-wahs, amp simulators, compressors, and pitch shifter pedals available to guitarists. If your effects pedal is adorned with an expression pedal input, Stomp supports that too, and even features a built-in LFO to modulate your pedal’s expression input. Need something crazier? No problem. Simply patch any modulation source from your modular system into the expression control jack to override the built-in LFO.

Conversely, guitarists can plug their guitar directly into Stomp’s RETURN jack, giving them access to the myriad filters, ring mods, wavefolders and — most importantly — the near-infinite CV modulation delights inherent in Eurorack.

Features

  • Robust Neutrik 1/4″ TS connectors for the SEND/RETURN and TRS for the Expression interface
  • Signals arriving at Stomp’s RETURN jack pass through a Class A triode emulator, allowing for some tube-like overdrive at high gain setting.
  • Stomp is more than just a simple level shifter — it’s also an impedance converter, which provides proper drive and loading for any FX pedals or instruments you connect.
  • Separate gain controls on both the SEND and RETURN. This enables you to adjust the level of any audio being sent to the FX pedals as well as any audio coming back into the modular. Not only does this allow you to optimize the signal-to-noise ratio, but by significantly boosting the RETURN level, you can achieve some pleasingly overdriven tones.
  • Supports both Instrument and Line levels via a front panel switch.
  • Use Stomp’s RETURN circuit as a “direct box” for connecting any instrument.
  • The high input impedance of the RETURN circuit allows it to be used as a piezo pickup preamp for acoustic instruments.
  • Use Stomp in the studio as an active “re-amping” device to play pre-recorded tracks back through guitar amplifiers or pedals.
  • All inputs are protected for minimum RF interference.
  • Return signal can be phase inverted for use with those pedals or effects types that invert phase.
  • Low MIX output impedance for driving long cables, lower noise, and minimum interference from outside sources.
  • The Expression Pedal Output converts analog CV sources (or the internal LFO) into an output compatible with most stompbox Expression inputs.

Specifications

  • Width: 8hp
  • Depth: 35mm
  • Power: +47mA / -13mA

Alternatively, you can create a sequence where ADSR2 is triggered by a delayed amount of time after ADSR1 is triggered (either cyclically or in a single shot sequence). The panel switches for routing or disabling the pulse sources allow for even more complex combinations of control beyond these examples. This special combination of functions can yield a plethora of interesting and organic envelope and gate patterns to be created; cyclical and single shot.

ADSR + VCA Features

  • Dual Analog ADSR envelopes with digital gate Pulser for trapezoid shapes
  • Pulser stages P1 and P2 can be selectively routed to trigger each ADSR via panel switches
  • Three timing ranges: (FAST: ~5 seconds, MED: ~35sec, SLOW: ~1min A/D times)
  • Retrig input (allows re-triggering of the envelope if source gate held high)
  • VCA input can be used to dynamically control the respective ADSR output level (bipolar) or to process signals to be modulated in amplitude by the ADSR.
  • Manual GATE buttons for each envelope

Pulser Features

  • A pulse is made of individually controllable T1 and T2 stage lengths
  • CV control over T1 and T2 time
  • Pulser can be one-shot (SINGLE) or repeating (CYCLE)
  • PULSE output has a switch to select P1 or P2 as the source.
  • Pulser stages P1 and P2 can be selectively routed to trigger each ADSR via panel switches
  • START trigger input for starting/restarting the Pulser sequence
  • Manual GATE button to trigger the Pulser sequence
