The third iteration of one of the most used touch interfaces, the 218, as the LEM218v3: The 218e version3 Lunar Excursion Module. The first design appeared in the 1973 release of the Buchla Music Easel and named for the spacecraft that delivered astronauts to the moon. Providing the familiar piano key layout for this early mobile music machine, the additional controls and capabilities were an interface for exploring uncharted musical territory. With the new version 3, it’s been updated with a new foundation of stable, modern electronics and plenty of inputs and outputs to integrate with your Buchla, MIDI, and Eurorack gear.

The incredible sensitivity and accuracy of the redesigned touch bed means the lightest touch will produce triggers and control voltage for your setup. The adjustable sensor has the dynamic range and durability to handle your playing. The new texture not only improves the sensing, but provides a satisfying tactile experience. As always, pressure is an expressive output, adding an extra dimension to the control. MIDI outputs velocity and polyphony, as well as channel pressure, making the LEM218 a uniquely expressive controller for all your synthesizers. The configurable touchstrip adds a fantastic addition for pitch bend or as an additional modulator to patch into your system

Even if you don’t have any Buchla products, the LEM 218 v3 is designed to work with your Eurorack-compatible gear. Four 3.5mm jacks output 1v/octave pitch, 0-8 volts pressure, touchstrip voltage, and gate outputs for use with Eurorack equipment. Or, combine your Euro with your Buchla instruments. If NATO can do it, so can you. The sound design possibilities will blow your mind

A pulse input allows the arpeggiator to be driven by external inputs and are allowed to interact with the automated notes to make the pattern more complex. Additional controls allow you to blend different patterns and randomness to easily change from the expected to the surprising

The classic preset voltage knobs offer several possible ways to shift your sounds into new territory. Not only can the knobs be used for quick access to voltages for your patch, they can control arpeggiation modes and octave shifting. Pads output pulses for additional control

Such a unique device will spark many ideas. With easy front panel configuration, you can quickly customize the velocity and pressure sensitivity, MIDI channel, knob behavior, and more. No cumbersome software setups, just simple settings with the keys and knobs, and you’re ready to play.

The MetaModule puts real knobs and jacks on virtual software modules. Step back from the computer and make music with hardware, while keeping the flexibility and expandability of software.

The MetaModule comes with hundreds of built-in modules from 4ms Company, Befaco, HetrickCV, NonlinearCircuits, and Scanner Darkly, plus clones of popular classics such as the Mutable Instruments eurorack modules, fun physical modeling algorithms, and lots of handy utilities, with the ability to add hundreds more via plugins.

All of the included modules are also available on the computer using the free program VCV Rack. Whether you make patches on VCV Rack and transfer them to the MetaModule, or if you just create patches directly on the MetaModule, there are plenty of creative modules to inspire new ways to make music.

MetaModule Plugins
If the 160+ built-in modules aren’t enough, you can load more modules as plugins. Already there are over 200 modules in third-party plugins from Bogaudio, Valley, ChowDSP, NANO Modular, and the list is growing. We have an SDK available to make it easy for VCV Rack plugin developers to convert their plugin to a MetaModule plugin. Our licensing terms are non-restrictive: developers are welcome to distribute their plugin in any way they wish, commercially or not.

Mapping Knobs and Jacks
The MetaModule has 12 knobs that can be mapped to virtual knobs. Each knob can be mapped to up eight virtual knobs, and each mapping can have a different range and offset. You also can save a group of mappings as a Knob Set and switch between Knob Sets with the encoder. You also can map the 8 inputs and 8 outputs to virtual module jacks. Also, the MetaModule is a USB MIDI host, so you also can map MIDI CC, note, gate, and other parameters to knobs and jacks.

Expanders
There are lots of ways to customize your MetaModule. A Wifi expander allows you to wirelessly transfer patches from your computer. Add eight more knobs with the Knob expander, or buttons with the Button expander. A CV/Audio expander adds more high-resolution inputs and outputs, and the Gate In/Out expander adds not only gate jacks but also TRS MIDI and I2C. All expanders for MetaModule will be available later in 2024.

Under the Hood
There are six CV/Audio inputs, two gate inputs, and six CV/Audio outputs. The CV/Audio jacks are all 24-bit, 48kHz DC-coupled, -10V to +10V. A USB-C jack accepts MIDI devices and thumb drives. Patches and plugins can be loaded via a USB drive or microSD Card, and internal flash memory lets you save patches you always want to come back to.
The processor is more advanced than anything 4ms has used in the past, and is among the most powerful processors found in Eurorack. Startup time and latency are blazingly fast.

The Metropolix Solo is a unique and powerful desktop multitrack MIDI and CV musical sequencer. With an abundance of hands-on, tactile controls and a wealth of internal and external modulation possibilities, you can quickly and easily create infectious sequences.

Even the simplest melody can be brought to life with seemingly endless options to create variations or real-time manipulations. In the studio or in a live performance, the Metropolix is sure to become a staple source of fresh ideas and killer riffs in your creative process.

CV and MIDI Sequencing on your desktop
We’ve set Metropolix free from the rack, in a small desktop case, allowing you to interface with your DAW or other hardware music machines without needing a full eurorack system.

Going Solo, but not alone
The Metropolix Solo Kit is available for current eurorack Metropolix owners that want to set Metropolix free to sit next to their modular systems.

Connections
Metropolix Solo has all the connections you need for USB MIDI, Serial MIDI (TRS or DIN with Adaptors) and CV/GATE for modular systems. Use CV/Gate, TRS and USB MIDI all at the same time.

Top Panel (CV/Gate)

  • A/B Assignable CV Outputs
  • X/Y/Z CV Modulation Inputs
  • CLK Sync and Reset Input
  • CLK Sync Output
  • Track 1 and 2 Pitch and Gate

Rear Panel (MIDI/Power)

  • MIDI TRS: In / Out / Thru
  • MIDI USB-C
  • 2.1mm DC for Power Supply

Let’s talk about Metropolix

Performance Controls
Metropolix is an interactive sequencer optimized for live performance, jamming, and improvisation — with configurable, hands-on control of all the most essential performance parameters. Sequences transform and mutate with just the twist of a knob; a flick of a switch; a nudge of a slider; or an injection of CV. With Metropolix, your music is as dynamic and evolving as your imagination.

Two Tracks, Interconnected
Two tracks (TRK 1 and TRK 2) are variants of a main pitch/gate sequencer, which is programmed via the PITCH sliders, PULSE COUNT and GATE TYPE switches. Each track interprets the main sequence in a variety of ways — creating complementary variations that enable you to generate counterpoint, polyrhythms, and all manner of sonic movement (both subtle and extreme).

Each of these tracks has its own playback ORDER, sequence LENgth, clock DIVision, SWING amount, SLIDE time, and track GATE lengths. Other track-based sequence variables are accessible from the TRACK MENU, and include Pitch Slider inversion; sequence note range; track transposition; and more. In addition, both tracks have multiple lanes of per-stage playback parameters, including: GATE override; PITCH override; RATCHet count; PROBability of playback; ACCUMulating transposition, and a dedicated CV/CC lane. Each stage also has a SKIP feature, and a pitch SLIDE option.

The Accumulator
Automate pitch movements on a per-track or per-stage basis. Use various trigger types and increments to control variation on your tracks.

Eight Modulation Lanes
Eight Separate modulation lanes are accessed via the MOD button. Each MOD lane has 8-stages of modulation values and its own playback ORDER, LENgth, and clock DIVision; and each lane is routable to one of Metropolix’ two assignable outputs, MIDI CC, and dozens of internal destinations, allowing for sophisticated and powerful self-modulation.

Three AUX Inputs and Two CTRL Knobs
A trio of AUX inputs allows for external modulation of user-assignable sequencer parameters for even greater variation, while two assignable CTRL knobs give you direct access to the parameters you want to adjust most frequently during a performance. With dedicated Pitch/Gate outputs for both Track 1 and Track 2; two totally user-assignable outputs (A and B); and internal MOD routing, Metropolix features a wealth of patching opportunities.

100 User Defined Scales
Design and modulate between your own custom scales and root note.

Modulate BPM
Use the CTRL Knobs, AUX Inputs, or Mod Lanes to modulate the BPM of your track and the clock outputs of the Metropolix.

Loopy — Performance Looping
Metropolix also features a Loopy mode, allowing you to instantly play back short sub-sequences, or even “play” the stage buttons directly (like a ‘keyboard’).

64 Total Recall Presets & Preset Chaining
Metropolix stores up to 64 preset configurations (in 8 banks of 8 presets), and all live settings are stored on the module, ensuring that your Metropolix will always power up exactly as you left it — even if you haven’t saved them to a preset. By default presets can change all the structural (menu-based) elements of your sequencer without overwriting the front panel controls, but full recall is also available.

Chain Presets to go hands free while you twiddle other knobs on your synth.

Doepfer A-161 Eurorack Clock Sequencer Module (A-160 Expander) https://www.elevatorsound.com/product/doepfer-a-161-eurorack-clock-sequencer-module-a-160-expander/ Tue, 16 Apr 2024 13:05:33 +0000 https://www.elevatorsound.com/?post_type=product&p=89794 Module A-161 is an eight-step Clock Sequencer which is internally connected to the Clock Divider (A-160). Eight outputs are sequentially switched by the clock signals from the A-160 (see Fig. 1) and can act, for instance, as sequential rhythmic triggers for an envelope. The reset on the A-160 also works on the A-161 (instant return to Step 1). The low/high levels of the output signals are 0V and about +10V. In combination with a mixer (A-138) short analog sequences can be generated. The A161 draws its current via the A160 module, which MUST be fitted directly to the left of the A161. The A161 CANNOT function without the A160. Specifications Width: 4hp Depth: 40mm Power: +20mA, -0mA Manufacturer product page here. Product manual here.

Module A-161 is an eight-step Clock Sequencer which is internally connected to the Clock Divider (A-160).
